Tips to Celebrate Women’s Health and Fitness Day
Each year National Women’s Health and Fitness Day is celebrated on the last Wednesday in September. This year, the special day lands on September 29th. It’s a great excuse to take some time for yourself and to focus on living a healthy lifestyle. Keep in mind, living healthy is not just about physical activity, it’s about taking care of your mental and emotional health as well.
We understand that women are busy juggling many of life’s demands. Here are some simple tips and ideas we hope you’ll fit into your busy schedule to recognize and celebrate Women’s Health and Fitness Day.
Grab a Buddy: Make exercise more fun with a friend. Ask a friend to join you at the gym or even a walk in the park. Time with girlfriends is always good for the soul and going with someone else will assure you’ll get out of bed to get there!
Try Something New: If you’ve been staring at the yoga or Zumba class schedule with the inclination to try something different, make an effort to do it now. Or Google a new healthy recipe to make for dinner. Doing something different keeps us motivated and engaged.
Slow Down: Take some time to pause from everyday distractions and chaos. Turn off your phone, take a nap or treat yourself to a massage. It’s important to monitor and limit stress and take time to rejuvenate your mind and body.
Indulge in a Food Facial: There are some foods that benefit your body and skin! Mashed bananas can help moisturize dry skin, and oats can help relieve itchy, irritated skin. Enjoy a homemade facial while streaming your favorite movie.
Find a Support Group: Many women find great comfort in participating in support groups to deal with mental and emotional issues. You’ll be surprised by how many different ones there are. You are not alone with how you may be feeling. Support groups provide a safe space to share what may be troubling you.
Whether it’s to relax, recharge or to try something new, use September 29th, Women’s Health and Fitness Day, to energize you to keep your health and fitness top of mind – today, and every day.
