At Cheyenne OBGYN, we now offer SneakPeek®, cutting-edge technology for discovering the gender of your baby in utero. This test uses a blood sample and can deliver gender results much earlier in the pregnancy than an ultrasound.
How does it work?
The test looks for male chromosomes in the fetal DNA found in mom’s blood. If there is no fetal DNA in mom’s blood, the test will return a girl result, because mom is a girl. On the off-chance that the test is contaminated with outside male DNA, it may return a boy result. Please confirm pregnancy with your doctor prior to taking SneakPeek®.
How early can I take the SneakPeek® test?

Is the test safe?
The SneakPeek® Early Gender DNA Test is a non-invasive prenatal test (NIPT), and it’s safe for both mom and baby.
How is it different from a urine-based gender test?
SneakPeek® is a DNA test that looks for male chromosomes in the cell-free fetal DNA (cffDNA) found in mom’s blood, a process that was first established in 1997 and refined in a multitude of scientific publications since. Urine-based tests have no scientific validity, as there are no gender markers in urine.
Why is SneekPeek® Gender more accurate?
Our previous studies used the gender of the baby determined by the 2nd-trimester anatomy ultrasound to compare SneakPeek® Gender results. While anatomy ultrasound sonograms are generally considered to be accurate, like any method other than live birth, they also have an error rate. Our most recent study uses sex at live birth as its confirmation method, the only accurate method, and found that the SneakPeek® Early Gender DNA Test results matched 99.9% of the time. The incorrect gender was given in only 1 result out of 1,029 live births.
If I’m having twins, can it predict the gender of each one?
SneakPeek® looks for male DNA in the fetal DNA found in mom’s blood sample. In the case of identical twins, if male DNA is found, then both babies are boys. If no male DNA is found, then both babies are girls. For fraternal twins, finding male DNA means at least one baby is a boy, but cannot distinguish if the second is a boy or girl.
How long until I receive my results?
With SneakPeek® Clinical, results are gathered and then sent to the SneakPeek® lab. You will receive an email with the results as early as the next day.
